Finding Inspiration

Delicate wildflowers.

Evergreen forests.

Billowing streams.

To- go coffee cup in hand.

Mud caked boots.

These landscapes and familiar moments is where my inspiration is found. When deciding what to create I find it important to bring things into my home that allow my soul to rest and recharge. It’s a no brainer to me that I feel most inspired when I’m out in nature. What you decide to do with that inspiration though is where we sometimes get stuck. I oftentimes will take my camera and journal with me to sketch and record what I see. Once I am back in my sewing room is when the magic happens. I will grab color swatches from my the photos I took and match them to fabric at my local fabric store. I will use the sketches (usually botanical) as a guide when designing the geometric shapes for my patterns.

I truly believe this type of inspiration is different than the one you will find scrolling on Pinterest. It’s organic and timeless. I urge you whenever you have a moment, go out and take a walk. It can be a familiar path like to the library, or a nature trail. Stop and record when you see something that stands out to you. Stop and take note of the world like you have something to learn from it. Then whenever you are ready pull out your findings when you are back home at your sewing machine and see what magic awaits you.

Keep creating,

Chloe’
